Blockstack is building secure, scalable systems that make decentralized applications easier to develop, deploy, and trust. We are looking for a Blockchain Engineer who can contribute to core protocol development, solve complex distributed systems challenges, and help shape the next generation of our platform.
The Blockchain Engineer works on core infrastructure, node architecture, and key components that support consensus, data integrity, and system performance. You will design and implement features that improve reliability, scalability, and developer usability across the entire Blockstack ecosystem. This role is hands on, collaborative, and suited for someone who enjoys deep technical work supported by clear product goals.
Responsibilities include:
Designing and implementing improvements to the core blockchain protocol.
Building services that handle validation, state transitions, and secure data storage.
Contributing to node client architecture with a focus on performance and robustness.
Troubleshooting issues across the network stack, consensus logic, and distributed systems.
Collaborating with product and platform teams to translate user needs into engineering solutions.
Creating documentation, internal tools, and testing frameworks that support ongoing development.
Strong background in blockchain engineering, distributed systems, or cryptographic protocols.
Proficiency in languages commonly used in blockchain development, such as Rust, Go, TypeScript, or similar.
Solid understanding of consensus algorithms, peer to peer networks, and data structures used in decentralized systems.
Experience optimizing performance for high throughput or resource constrained environments.
Ability to write clear, maintainable code with strong testing practices.
Comfortable working through complex problems with limited precedent and high technical depth.
Experience contributing to open source blockchain projects is a plus.
